The use of Faun ATF 500XL/ATF 45-3
This is a mobile crane propelled by a carrier. Both the carrier and the crane are intertwined and their systems are integrated to function as a unit. This FAUN ATF 500XL is an all-terrain vehicle and can be used off-road or on the road. However, all the axle limitations must be followed during transit.
Telescopic boom
As the norm in self-propelled cranes, the most common operational model is the hydraulic telescopic boom mechanism. The main boom is 34 meters with double fly jib arms of 16 meters and an ASLI extension. The maximum sheave height is 37 meters with a total extended length of 34 meters and a retracted length of 9 meters. More importantly here is that it has 4 telescopic sections adjustable to the load and height requirements. This is aided by a superstructure frame anchored on a 360 degrees single-race ball-bearing slewing ring. Meaning, that once anchored, it has a lot of room for manoeuvre without having to change its position.
Safety Features for Faun 500XL/ATF 45-3
As for safety, the FAUN 500XL has several features, including the state-of-the-art automatic safe load indicator (ASLI). The safety valves and a hoist winch limit switch are added to prevent hose ruptures and rope windings. Switch times for various functions such as adjusting telescopes and boom extensions are tested and set at 45 and 75 seconds responsively. The electrical system also comes with a basic boom floodlight, front lid floodlights, and lateral lights. The bulletproof safety glass for the crane cabin, heating, and skylights are just the highlights of this machine. They guarantee the safety and comfort of the technician and the work environment.
Specified load charts and ASLI
This machine comes with a specified load chart with an inbuilt ASLI, removing the risk of overloading at any specific instance. The Faun 500XL mobile crane has a 300l fuel tank packing enough fuel for everyday tasks. Further, its hoisting gear includes two hoisting gears with a maximum drum diameter of 15.7 inches, rope diameters of 0.6 inches, and rope length of 150. The rope pull is 45kN at maximum rope speeds of 120m/min, all driven at open hydraulic circuits.
