Project details
The work was carried out at Port Agigea, Berth 115, aboard the Hyundai cargo vessel. The task required providing at-height access inside the ship's hold for the positioning and securing of a large-format industrial boiler (Macchi Italy) being transported on the vessel.
Working conditions were atypical: the PRB (truck-mounted aerial work platform) — a Nissan Cabstar Bizzocchi unit — had to be lowered into the hold using the NMF port crane, with maneuvering space inside the hold restricted by the metal walls and the dimensions of the boiler. The lowering operation required coordination between the PRB operator, the ground crew, and the port crane operator.
Once positioned inside the hold, the PRB provided technicians with access to the face of the Macchi Italy boiler for clamping, adjustment, and securing operations. The reach of the articulating boom covered the entire frontal surface of the unit, including upper areas that were otherwise inaccessible within the confined space of the hold.
The work was completed within a few hours, under rainy conditions, with the ship's deck wet throughout.
